Malta's Ambassador to the African Union Ronald Micallef will be the keynote speaker in an online public conference organised by the Department of Public Policy of the University of Malta and the Global Africa Foundation.
The webinar on Friday 23 April at 18:00 is an opportunity to discuss Malta's National Strategy for Africa referring to Malta's political, economic and cultural relations with the African continent. It will also place Malta’s relations with Africa within the context of EU-Africa
The session titled "Malta and Africa: A Strategy for partnership 2020-2025" is part of a seminar series called ‘Policy Conversations on Africa’ convened jointly by the Department of Public Policy within the University of Malta’s Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy and the Global Africa Foundation.
Global Africa is platform that aims to raise awareness about Africa as an emerging continent. Previous sessions of ‘Policy Conversations on Africa’ were hosted by the President of the Republic in San Anton Palace in Attard and Malta’s Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels, Belgium.
The public conference will be introduced by Dr Anne Marie Thake, Head of the Department of Public Policy and moderated by Robert Micallef, convener of ‘Policy Conversations on Africa’.
Ronald Micallef is Malta’s non-resident Ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union and Head of Trade Malta’s Africa Desk. He was a key author of Malta’s strategy for Africa launched in January 2020 that aims to promote Malta as an island hub for trade between Africa, Europe and beyond.
