The talk focuses on the different perspectives and philosophies on competition and the ways this is looked at from adults' and children鈥檚 points of view. Competition and its fit across long term athletic development of children is discussed. Competitive readiness in children depends on four major components. During the talk we will explore these four major concepts as well as the theory of social comparison. These insights would help parents understand better the position of competition in the lives of young athletes.
In conclusion the talk provides insights into what parents should be looking out for during their children's competitive experiences.
