Title: APS Summer Festival
Date: 21 July - 1 August 2021
Venue: Quad, University of Malta Msida Campus
APS Bank is organising the second edition of the APS Summer Festival on Quad at the University of Malta between 21 July and 1 August 2021. UM is actively supporting this event by hosting this year's festival at the University of Malta Msida Campus.
Under the artistic direction of Ms Annalisa Schembri, the festival features a fresh, exciting and diverse artistic programme revolving around a wide spectrum of arts.
Two of the shows are created by UM students:
3 numbers. 4 walls. One office.
The theatrical performance ‘249’ brings us into the office of Prof. Oliver Friggieri, his second home, as we experience everything from the perspective of the four walls. It was an office always bustling with people, mostly students coming in and out. Every person who has entered the office has stayed longer than expected and never came out empty-handed. The office has seen the Professor serve his vocational role as a teacher to prepare students for the exam of life; it has seen him be a friend who listens in every circumstance and it has also witnessed the love of a father who was always ready to comfort and be of solace. In this same office, Oliver has provided consolation to many hearts and souls.
This show is followed by another performance by Swing Nuages: Vintage Gypsy Swing Jazz by Diccon Cooper.
An evening of Music and Dance showcasing talent from the School of Performing Arts at the University of Malta. Students and Lecturers will offer a blend of live music, screen dance and live contemporary dance. The first part of the show will feature flutist Nicole Spiteri who will play a series of solo and accompanied chamber music. Four third-year students from the Dance Studies department will join forces at the stage to close the first part of the evening. An intermezzo of six 1-minute screen dance pieces will open the second part, followed by two newly commissioned dance pieces by dance lecturer Paula Guzzanti and Dance Studies alumni Alicja Sonsnia. Both pieces highlight social issues such as control and social alienation and the housing crisis.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity of this year’s edition of the APS Summer Festival, celebrating Diversity, Joy, and Sustainability, in a safe environment.
