The presentation will focus on the current situation where the permanent retention and recording of Malta-related published material is concerned, then moving on to possibilities for improvement in that respect. Both the traditional paper-based material but also the digital one present challenges, particularly given the quite extensive output of material in both formats, coupled with limited resources. Historical, but also material of current research value risks being lost unless a national digital infrastructure is created to retain such published material, also through the development of a national collection development and retention policy.
