Title: AFP Digital Investigation Workshop

The , which has one of the largest stables of Factcheckers in the world, will be carrying out training in basic Factchecking for a number of Maltese, Greek and Cypriot journalists at the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences on the 26 and 27 October.
The initiative is part of an EU-funded project establishing a Mediterranean hub of fact-checking organisations across Malta, Greece, and Cyprus, and including the AFP, named , or MedDMO in short.
The Department of Media and Communications, represented by its Head, Professor 臓or摹 Mallia, has taken the University of Malta lead in the project. The Times of Malta are also partners in MedDMO.
The training will look, among other things, at:
- mis and disinformation
- archiving
- search operators and search on social media
- metadata
- reverse image and video searching
- geolocation and
- the challenges being brought about by AI.
A project meeting of the MedDMO core group will also take place at the Faculty of Media and Knowlege Sciences on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 of October 2023. A media event, in which the project is explained to local journalists, will be held at MAKS on 24 October at 10:30.
