Event: Book Launch: Sea Level Change and Maritime Boundaries
Date: Friday 12 April 2024
Time: 13:00 - 15:00
Venue: University of Malta, Valletta Campus
This book will be launched during a special event held at the University of Malta's Valletta Campus. Until some time ago, the stability of the coast was unquestioned in international law. As a result of significant changes to the sea level this is no longer the case. Indeed, currently this is a major concern for a number of Pacific Island States, which may eventually also be shared by other coastal States.
This is an important, and serious, development which may lead to serious repercussions in international law, having a significant impact in diplomatic and international relations. This theme will be discussed by none other than Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino, a specialist in island state studies, and currently Ambassador of Malta for Islands and Small States, and Prof. Kevin Aquilina, who has written extensively on constitutional, human rights and maritime law.
Programme
- 13:00 - Discussion by Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino and Prof. Kevin Aquilina
- 14:00 - Refreshments
