What is the Language Data Space (LDS)?
The Language Data Space (LDS) is a European Commission initiative designed to create a secure, EU-compliant marketplace for sharing and accessing multilingual and multimodal language data. It facilitates collaboration among stakeholders, including industry, academia, and public institutions, to support the development of language technologies and AI applications across Europe.
At the core of LDS is the LDS Connector, a software component installed on participants' systems. This connector enables users to publish, discover, negotiate, and securely transfer language data products while maintaining control over their data and ensuring compliance with licensing and usage policies. All transactions are logged for transparency and traceability.
