The Department of Physics organised a Physics Workshop 2019 entitled Dream it. Learn it. Build it in Mellieha from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 December. First and second-year students taking Physics at Advanced and Intermediate levels attended this activity.
During the weekend, the students had the opportunity of looking through assembled telescopes at the moon and galaxies, in an activity organised in collaboration with the Institute of Space, Science and Astronomy of the University of Malta. They had a talk and activities related to Apollo 11, commemorating 50 years since the first landing on the moon. The most exciting moment of the activity was when the students launched the rockets they constructed themselves. They also had hands-on activities dealing with the construction of different structures. The students also enjoyed scavenger and photo hunts related with the application of physics concepts and optical phenomena. The value of teamwork was emphasized in all the activities. The workshop ended with a mass celebrated by the Junior College chaplain, Fr Anton D鈥橝mato.
