Five students accompanied by youth worker Roberto Calleja and lecturer Gaynor Azzopardi Mercieca participated in the project meeting held in Rome, Italy between 16 and 22 October 2022, as part of the Erasmus+ Project “POP! Proclamation of Positivity – Teachers for Positive Education”. The meeting was hosted by Liceo Scientifico “Aristotele”, a long-term partner of the Junior College. At heart of the POP project there is the promotion of positive psychology that mainly focuses on wellbeing, feeling of happiness and character strengths. Students and lecturers who participated were part of an international pilot group for the creation of new educational materials.
The meeting in Rome brought together all international partners hailing from Italy, Hungary, Malta, Spain and Turkey, where the participants worked on group work activities involving presentations, brainstorming and intercultural activities, which enabled them to become more aware of each other’s wellbeing.
This time around, students who participated had the opportunity to experience first-hand living with a family in Rome and fully immersed themselves in the local lifestyle, from using the metro to get to their host’s school, tasting local dishes, experiencing youth life in Rome, visiting Rome’s cultural attractions and so much more. After all, making young Europeans fall in love with each other’s countries and people, whilst creating good memories for life is part of the Erasmus experience.
This two year-long project is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme and is being coordinated by the JC International Office.
