The fourth mobility as part of the two year-long Erasmus+ project POP! Proclamation of Positivity – Teachers for Positive Education, took place between 13 – 17 February 2023, and was hosted by our Spanish partner school IES Sabinar, located in Roquetas de Mar, in the region of Almeria.
A group of 4 Junior College students along with 2 leaders took part in this meeting.
The theme for this mobility was ‘meaning’, as part of a series of topics covered related to positive psychology and wellbeing. This is based on Seligman’s PERMA Model, which focuses on wellbeing and self-actualisation. This project involved working groups made up of students and educators who shared their experience in applying ‘meaning’ in their daily lives. These working groups also conducted hands on workshops to further explore this topic.
The hosting Spanish school organised a week of activities, and cultural trips, which were all directly linked to the topic explored during this visit, through which they encouraged each participant to reflect on their purpose in life. Such reflection can help when facing significant adversities in our personal lives.
The mobility’s purpose was also that of interacting with the international participants involved in this project, whilst being hosted and experiencing the life of a Spanish family. The leaders had the opportunity to get insight on how the school operates, whilst mixing with different members of staff, as well as with the local families, which contributed to the intercultural aspect of this project.
The group was accompanied by Gaynor Azzopardi Mercieca and Roberto Calleja.
The project is coordinated by the JC International Office and funded through the Erasmus+ programme.
