ĊineXjenza is an event that combines film and science. The next screen will be of the Academy award nominated film ‘Stand and Deliver’ about the true story of Jaime Escalante, a high school maths teacher who encouraged his pupils to take the Calculus AP exam. The teacher that ends up being very inspirational to working-class kids who thought they’d never amount to anything. The film will initiate conversations around the important roles that teachers have in forming young academics, and how their role has evolved during the years.
Following the film, there will be a discussion, featuring guest speakers from the . In an informal atmosphere, they will share their experience of the modern educational system and their thoughts on how it can improve, and they will also take questions from the audience.
