The College Community is encouraged to separate the waste at source using the labelled bins on the College Campus. This measure is meant to discourage the generation of waste that goes to landfill.
The Junior College through the hard work of the Environmental Committee is embracing this new perspective of waste separation on Campus as the way forward. Hence the sustainable approach to managing waste.
You are invited to use the 14 sets of bins across the College Campus:
- Yellow lid - organic (green label)
- White lid - paper (orange label)
- Blue lid - plastic (blue label)
- Green lid - mixed waste
- Bottom grey bin - metal
- Top brown lid - glass
Take a positive stand and learn how to separate waste
Deciding the type of waste needs just a quick look before you throw it away. Decide whether it is plastic, metal, glass, organic, paper or mixed waste.
To help you select the right bin, read the following brief description:
- plastics bin is to be used to dispose of clean plastic bottles, cups, bottle caps, plastic bags and disposables, but not jablo.
- metals bin is to be used to dispose of clean cans, food tins, jar lids, and spray cans but not electronic waste
- glass bin is to be used to dispose of glass bottles and jars but not lightbulbs
- organics bin is to be used to dispose of cooked and raw food, teabags, coffee, soiled napkins and leaves
