Dr Angele Deguara and Ms Natasha Galea from the JC Diversity Committee visited Saint Omer, France between 21 and 23 November 2023. The visit is part of an Erasmus+ Job Shadowing collaborative project focusing inclusion in schools. This meeting was hosted by our French partner school, and was attended by educators from Germany, Spain, Finland and Malta.
Participants exchanged information about their institutions, especially with regards to diversity and inclusion issues. The focus of the visit was about special needs in particular. The visit also provided the opportunity to tour both the hosting school, LYPSO, Lycée Professionnel Du Pays De Saint-Omer, as well as a second plant which also forms part of the same institution, the Durand site, also located in Saint-Omer. Both institutions are vocational rather than academic and cater for students aged 16-18, 130 of whom have special needs. The guests were invited to observe lessons in different subjects, and attended a session involving local students, two of whom had special needs, who shared their experiences of studying at LYPSO.
This project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Accreditation programme, and coordinated by the JC International Office.
