The Junior College hosted a group of eight teachers from four different schools in Norway, Netherlands, Bulgaria and Italy, as part of an Erasmus+ Job shadowing initiative focusing on student engagement in the field of science education. The three-day programme took place between 16 and 18 April, and was entitled "Engaging students in science through co-curricular activities".
During their visit, the participant teachers were given a comprehensive tour of the College premises, including laboratories and facilities. They were also provided with a detailed presentation on various science-related Enrichment Programmes organised by JC. The visiting teachers on the other hand, had the opportunity to showcase their schools and discuss science-related co-curricular activities from their respective institutions. Additionally, they had first hand experiences of classes by attending lectures in Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Systems of Knowledge.
The programme extended beyond academic activities, including cultural visits to Valletta, Esplora Interactive Science Center and the area of Cottonera, Mdina, 摩a摹ar Qim and Mnajdra Temples. This exchange provided a wonderful opportunity to share teaching experiences, ideas and best practices between educators with a similar interest, which granted all participants with a diverse perspective to take back home.
This project is co-funded through the Erasmus+ programme, and coordinated by JC International Office. The participant team included Ms Annick Bonello, Ms Leanne Bonnici, Ms Boryana Chaneva, Ms Rona La Bella, Dr Edward Mifsud, and Mr Kevin Mizzi, supported by Mr Roberto Calleja.
