The European Parliament funded 18 Junior College students, alongside students from different EU countries to attend the November 16, 2023, Euroscola session in Strasbourg. The group was accompanied by Mr Samuel Stellini and Dr Jurgen Gatt from the Systems of Knowledge Department (SoK).
The activity was held in the Hemicycle, where the MEPs have plenary sessions. Following the opening remarks, Dr Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, invited students from all EU member states to engage in politics if they were to shape their future.
Next was a Q&A session with Ms Nicola Beer, Vice President of the European Parliament. The students had the opportunity to ask her questions about work-life balance, gender-based challenges in politics and the EU's role in the Gaza conflict. An interview with an expert in energy, industry and environmental sustainability followed this session, during which participants interacted with Ms Aleyda Hernandez Laviades, who gave a technical overview of the EU's policy direction in this sector.
The group also visited the Strasbourg Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art as well as the Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg.
This experience is coordinated by the JC International Office and the SoK Department.
