Students from JC took part in Aġenzija Żgħażagħ’s Model European Parliament (MEP) programme earlier this month. This programme offers a unique platform for students aged 16-19 to participate and contribute actively in a simulation of the European Parliament and presents an exceptional opportunity for students passionate about European Affairs to engage in a transformative experience.
An introductory meeting was held at the Junior College on 22 November 2023 where nine JC students met with Ms Rebecca Cardona from Aġenzija Żgħażagħ who gave an overview of the MEP programme. A month later on the 20 December 2023 the JC participants met the rest of the post-secondary students for a training seminar. This was followed by the actual 12th National Session held on 6 and 7 January 2024 at Aġenzija Żgħażagħ premises in Sta Venera.
Although this year the Junior College team did not win, two delegate students from JC, had a positive showing and were therefore selected to form part of the delegation which will represent Aġenzija Żgħażagħ in the 60th International MEP session, which will take place in November 2024 in Athens, Greece.
We congratulate Francesco Giuseppe Giorgino and Timothy Busuttil for their nominations, as well as the rest of the students who contributed. This was a positive learning experience which will be surely remembered by all the participants.
The participation of JC students in this project was overseen by Ms Annick Bonello Cassar.
