JC students studying German attended a students’ exchange following their annual exams in June. A total of 11 students alongside lecturers Ms Annick Bonello and Ms Josette Tabone travelled to Detmold, Germany for a week packed with school and outdoor activities.
The Maltese students had the opportunity to experience student life at the Geschwister-Scholl-Gesamtschule, where alongside their German counterparts, went on to visit Münster - a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as the city of Paderborn. Münster is known for its rich history, vibrant cultural scene, and as a centre for education and administration. In Detmold, the group enjoyed a guided tour organised by the German students, and climbed up the Hermannsdenkmal, a monumental statue of Arminius (Hermann), with incredible views of the surrounding hills and the city below.
Whilst there, the Maltese students attended some classes, and delivered presentations in German about the Maltese school system and the Junior College. Activities such as a treasure rally around the city helped the groups bond and get to know each other better.
Visiting “Eagle Park”, known as Adlerwarte Berlebeck, a renowned bird of prey centre located in the scenic Teutoburg Forest, was yet another experience worth remembering. The exchange allowed our students to have a wonderful experience immersed in German history, education and spectacular natural environment.
The project is coordinated by the JC International Office, and made possible by the Erasmus+ Accreditation programme.
