On Thursday 10 April 2025, Junior College student Francesco Giorgino, together with Dr Patricia Vella Briffa, Area Coordinator Languages & Communication and Subject Coordinator, Department of English, attended the prestigious Juvenes Translatores award ceremony held in the Alcide de Gaspari Conference Room, Charlemagne Building in Brussels.
Francesco was among six students invited to deliver a speech on the importance of languages. The message eloquently delivered partly in Maltese, English and Italian, a first in the history of student speeches, served as a reminder of the vital role of a language in reflecting the history of its speakers as well as in shaping the future of global communication.
The award ceremony was followed by a varied programme of activities for both students and teachers to mark the European Year of Digital Citizenship Education.
