Ġ.F. Abela Junior College has successfully concluded the 10th edition of the Ħolqa: International Youth Arts Festival, held from 23–26 March 2026. The annual multidisciplinary event once again brought together young artists from diverse countries and cultures, continuing its mission to foster creative expression, collaborative exchange, practical skill-building and hands‑on artistic experience.
Hundreds of students participated in the festival, be it as part of the core team, working alongside industry professionals, backstage operations, scheduling, coordination and as audience members—an invaluable opportunity that remains central to our educational vision.
This year’s theme, “Shakespeare it up!”, honoured the enduring legacy of William Shakespeare, inviting participants to reinterpret the emotions and characters that have shaped centuries of storytelling. The programme featured a wide range of artistic expressions, from performance and visual art to lyrical and experimental work.
Heartfelt thanks to all students, staff, sponsors, collaborators, and visiting artists whose dedication made this edition a success. Special appreciation goes to the Office of the Principal at Ġ.F. Abela Junior College for their continuous support throughout the festival’s preparation and delivery.
Ħolqa continues to strengthen its reputation as a vibrant platform for local and international exchange, with Ġ.F. Abela Junior College already looking ahead to its next exciting edition!
This festival was made possible thanks to the financial support of our main sponsors APS Bank Malta and Arts Council Malta. Special thanks also go to our supporting sponsors Space for Clay, VGB, Reġjun Tramuntana, and Heritage Malta.
