Three Junior College lecturers participated in an Erasmus+ staff mobility programme in Alicante, Spain, between 21 - 23 April 2026. This programme aimed at enhancing professional development, fostering international collaboration, and exchanging good educational practices. The mobility experience formed part of the wider Erasmus+ initiative promoting innovation, intercultural understanding, and cooperation between European educational institutions. The programme was hosted in Alicante and included a structured schedule of academic visits, workshops, presentations, and cultural activities focused on educational methodologies and institutional practices.
Throughout the mobility, the lecturers engaged with educators and institutions in Alicante, gaining valuable insight into different teaching approaches, learner engagement strategies, and the integration of technology and internationalisation within education. The programme also encouraged the sharing of experiences between educators from the different participating countries, i.e. Malta, Sweden and Finland, highlighting the importance of collaborative learning environments and student-centred teaching methods. Participants also had the opportunity to observe educational practices firsthand and discuss challenges and opportunities faced by educators across Europe.
A significant highlight of the project was the strengthening of international networks and partnerships, which may lead to future collaboration opportunities between institutions. The mobility also contributed to the lecturers’ personal and professional growth by improving intercultural communication skills, broadening perspectives on European education, and reinforcing the value of lifelong learning. Cultural visits and interaction with the local community further enriched the experience, allowing participants to appreciate the social and cultural dimensions of the host country.
Overall, the Erasmus+ mobility in Alicante proved to be a highly beneficial experience for the participating lecturers and their institution. The knowledge, ideas, and practices acquired during the visit are expected to positively influence teaching, student engagement, and future international initiatives within Junior College.
This experience is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme and coordinated by the JC International Office
