Throughout this academic year a Foreign Language Awareness Programme was carried out with Primary School students, during which they were exposed to Arabic, French, German, Italian and Spanish among other languages. This initiative was coordinated by members of staff of the Department of Languages and Humanities at the Faculty of Education, together with St Ignatius College.
The programme was carried out thanks to the contribution of ten Master in Teaching & Learning (MTL) students at the Faculty of Education who held a number of sessions on Language Awareness with Year V learners. The MTL students involved were Abigail Grech, Erika Scicluna, Maria Zammit, Mark Scerri, Felix Jan Lia, Ryan Grima, Kim Kuilboer, Charmaine Dalli, Celine Marie Borg and Lindsey Michelle Mallia.
The end of this programme was marked by an event, held at the Luqa Primary School, during which Year V learners presented examples of their work. During the event, the Hon. Evarist Bartolo, Minister for Education and Employment, Mrs Maria Pace, the College Principal, and Prof. Sandro Caruana, Dean of the Faculty of Education addressed those present.
