The Institute for European Studies and the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Arts, held the fourth of a series of research seminars. These seminars focus on key issues in European and international politics.
The aim of these research in progress seminars is twofold, to increase the research output of the University of Malta by presenting the state of the art research developed by resident and visiting members, and to identify gaps where further research is needed to support policy.

The fourth research seminar was delivered by Mr Fabrizio Ellul, a Ph.D. student with the Department of International Relations of the University of Malta, who presented a paper entitled ‘A study in the visual narrative of the European Parliament advertising poster campaigns for the European Elections from 1979 to 2014’. Dr Stefano Moncada, from the Institute for European Studies, acted as the main discussant, and started off the discussion.
The following research seminars will feature research in the field of responses to irregular migration and case of the EU relocation programme (Ms Nadia Petroni on 7 February), governance models for subnational island jurisdictions (Mr Ryan Mercieca on 21 February), the quality of budget institutions (Ms Moira Catania, 21 March), economic development and climate change in small island developing states (Dr Stefano Moncada, 18 April), and one by Prof. Roderick Pace on 16 May.
