Professor Vince Briffa has been invited to represent Malta at the Pafos2017 European Capital of Culture closing exhibition “Αυλαία” (Avlaia - Drop Curtain) which opened on the 29 December 2017 at the Markideio Theatre on Paphos, Cyprus. The work selected for the exhibition by curator Gioula Hadjigeorgiou is a neon sculpture entitled which was originally shown at Pjazza Teatru Rjal in 2014.

In the exhibition catalogue, Dr Sozita Goudouna writes that the exhibition "opens the Curtain of the south-east borderlines of Europe, in Paphos, during the finnisage of the European Capital of Culture Pafos2017, in an attempt to formulate questions about the future of Europe, that might allude to their solutions". 

Professor Briffa is Head at the Department of Digital Arts, Faculty of Media & Knowledge Sciences.
