The second IMAESC International Seminar on Adult Education took place at the University Malta on Monday 28 May. The seminar consisted of presentations by members of the second cohort in the Erasmus International Master in Adult Education for Social Change (IMAESC) who are concluding their Malta semester.
This was a successful event which included addresses of welcome from Pro-Rector, Professor Baldacchino, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Professor Sandro Caruana and the Head of the Department of Arts, Open Communities and Adult Education, Professor Raphael Vella.
Two keynote talks were delivered, one by Dr Isabelle DeRidder and Carine de Smet from the Flemish Consultative Council on Higher Education and one by Dr Itxaso Tellado Ruiz de Gauna from the University of Vic in Catalunya Spain. There were presentations by students from Brazil, England, Canada, China, Greece, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, USA and Wales.

The seminar was planned and convened by Professor Peter Mayo and Professor Carmel Borg with administrative support from Ms Romina Caruana Bond, all of the Department of Arts, Open Communities and Adult Education. Together with the two convenors, Ms Moira Azzopardi Barbieri from the same Department served as chairperson.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the Lifelong Learning Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Employment and members of the public.
The International Master in Adult Education for Social Change is governed by a consortium of universities namely the University of Glasgow (lead partner), Open University of Cyprus, University of Malta and University of Tallinn.
