The Malta BioBank, BBMRI.mt launches the BIOBANK GAME at Science in the City, European Researchers' Night in Valletta today.
The computer game offers fun, interactive learning of the research process from sample collection, extraction of DNA and storing samples in the biobank for medical research. The game describes a girl called Emma who suffers from a rare disease, Joe who is a researcher at the Malta BioBank trains the player to be a researcher.
The computer game offers fun, interactive learning of the research process from sample collection, extraction of DNA and storing samples in the biobank for medical research. The game describes a girl called Emma who suffers from a rare disease, Joe who is a researcher at the Malta BioBank trains the player to be a researcher.
Level 1 describes the sample collection process in a clinic. Level 2 involves extracting the DNA from blood in the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics which includes a DNA puzzle and Level 3 takes the player to a virtual biobank for long term storage of samples.
The game was designed by a team of Multimedia and Software students from the Malta College of Arts, Science & Technology (MCAST) and Masters students from the Institute of Digital Games at the University of Malta. The game was supported by the MITA Student Placement Programme and RD-Connect.
