Dr Maria Kontorinaki received the second prize of the IEEE ITS Best Dissertation Award 2018 for her Ph.D. Thesis entitled "Advanced Nonlinear Control Concepts for Freeway Traffic Networks".
The IEEE ITS Best Dissertation Award is given annually for the best dissertation in any Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) area that is innovative and relevant to practice. This award was established to recognise, and therefore to encourage, doctoral research that combines theory and practice, makes in-depth technical contributions, or is interdisciplinary in nature, having the potential to contribute to the Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (ITSS) and broaden the ITS topic areas from either the methodological or application perspectives.
