The Faculty of Health Sciences celebrated the Dean鈥檚 Awards for academic year 2017/18 on 5 July 2019.
The Dean, Dr Roberta Sammut, welcomed the students who had been nominated as well as their guests, the academic, administrative and technical staff and distinguished guests to the event which was held in the Secret Garden at San Anton Palace.
  Dr Stephen Lungaro Mifsud, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences compered the event.
The awards recognised efforts, achievements, and accomplishments among undergraduate students following full-time courses in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The students who made the Dean鈥檚 List were:
- Maria Farrugia, Nikita Camilleri, Sharon Mangion, Veronique Gatt, Stephania Vassallo and Claire Galea from the Department of Applied Biomedical Sciences
 - Franziska Mintoff and Lenice Tabone (in absencia) from the Department of Nursing
 - Robert Pisani from the Department of Radiography, and
 - Celene Spiteri from the Department of Communication Therapy.
 
Ms Claire Galea, from the Department of Applied Biomedical Sciences, obtained the award for Greatest Academic Improvement while Ms Lucia Buhagiar obtained the Award for Altruistic Contribution to Society. As Ms Lucia Buhagiar could not be present the award was presented to her mother Mrs Nathalie Buhagiar.
  A number of people were acknowledged by the students for nurturing a positive influence on their lives at University.
Dr Frank Zarb, from the Department of Radiography, was selected as Academic of the Year. Mr Franco Davies, who unfortunately could not attend the event, was nominated the Clinical mentor of the Year. Mr Javier Degiorgio was given the Administrative/Technical Award of the Year and Mr Andrea Portelli was presented with the Social Activism Award.
A jubilant reception was held to complete the evening.
