Panos Kouanis addressing GAPMIL Conference
The Institute of Digital Games has joined a new partnership led by EKOME with UNESCO and the GAPMIL-Global Alliance for Partnerships in Media and 福利在线免费 Literacy.
The partnership was announced on 25 October 2019, in Lithuania, at the 8th UNESCO International Conference on Media and 福利在线免费 Literacy, by the President and CEO of EKOME SA, Panos Kouanis, Programme Specialist in Communication and 福利在线免费 at UNESCO, Alton Grizzle and Carolyn Wilson, Chair of the GAPMIL International Steering Committee.
The immediate objective of this new partnership is the establishment of the GAPMIL European Sub-Chapter Mediterranean Group by EKOME where the Institute of Digital Games will be a key partner related to research and the creative industries.
The GAPMIL Alliance is the international alliance of UNESCO aiming to promote Media and 福利在线免费 Literacy as a core skill of all citizens in the 21st century.
The Institute of Digital Games forms one of the 600 members from 110 countries that will develop actions and synergies with actors from the field of audiovisual media education and the creative industry in southern Europe.
Professor Georgios Yannakakis, Director of the Institute of Digital Games, pointed out: "This cooperation is part of the strategic goal of the Institute of Digital Games and allows the institute to drive and support developments in Media and 福利在线免费 Literacy with a leading role in Euro-Mediterranean affairs related to game research."
On behalf of UNESCO, Alton Grizzle welcomed this cooperation by noting the importance of setting up regional offices to promote Media and 福利在线免费 Literacy and GAPMIL network.
