Two short films prepared by the Master of Arts in Film Studies students earlier this year, Delfina directed by Mario Cordina and Dream Big Little Cowboy directed by Aldo Zammit, were screened during the ‘Alice nella Città ’ 2019 XVII. The screenings were held as part of the highly prestigious International Festa del Cinema Rome Film Festival on Monday 21 October 2019.
The students who worked on Delfina were: Mario Cordina (director and co-scriptwriter), Stephen Rota (producer and first AD), Katrina Xuereb and James Pace (art direction), Marco Attard Portughes (sound direction), Chris Zarb (scriptwriter and cinematographer), Kenneth Scicluna (camera supervisor).
The students who worked on Dream Big Little Cowboy were Aldo Zammit (director and scriptwriter), Paul Portelli (producer and first AD), Jo Muscat (art direction), Edmond Camilleri (sound direction), Michael Carol Bartolo (cinematographer), Rodney Gauci (cinematographer and camera supervisor).
They were mentored on set by the award-winning directors Silvia Luzi and Luca Bellino as well as the acclaimed director of photography Olaf Hirschberg. Prof. Gloria Lauri-Lucente, co-ordinator of the M.A. in Film Studies, was the executive producer, on behalf of the University of Malta. Maria Evelyn Vella was the delegate producer.
