H.E Mr. Dionisio Vella, Malta’s non-permanent Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa and lecturer at in International Economics organized a company visit to “The Magro Food Village”, on 7 November 2019.  This a collection of food workshops and factories located in Xewkija, Gozo.

The study tour provided students with empirical insight in the strategic approaches and the challenges of one of Malta’s leading manufacturers and exporter of food products.

During the study visit, it was demonstrated that investment in research and development, training in human resources and branding are instrumental to achieve a competitive level in international markets.

Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic studies (MEDAC) students had the opportunity to ask managing director Mr John Magro a number of questions, ranging from the central benefits of achieving economies of scale and the impact of Malta’s EU accession on the company’s growth.
