Eleven B.Sc. (Hons) Home Economics 3rd year students studying at the University of Malta decided to work together to create a Facebook Page where Maltese and foreigners living on our islands can find useful and reliable information regarding all aspects of everyday living to promote a holistic lifestyle.
This collective initiative stemmed from an assignment in the study-unit HPN3011 “Health Education Interventions for Behaviour Change within a Lifelong Learning Perspective”, under the supervision of Dr Erika M. Pace and in consultation with Prof. Suzanne Piscopo.
In line with the mission of Home Economics education, the Facebook page called HE A LTH, which stands for Home Economists’ Approach to Living Together Holistically, aims to provide a motivational and educational platform for all ages, offering credible and timely information, whilst promoting sustainable, healthy lifestyle choices.
It offers ideas and tips on how to make the most of our resources and empowers people to take control over their lives whilst caring for others and for the natural environment. Nutrition, healthy eating, money management, creative leisure activities and consumer rights are only a few of the topics that are being dealt with – always keeping the Maltese context in mind.
The is already active.
Some of the feeds and post already uploaded include “Making the most out of a lock-down”, consumer tips regarding travel cancellations, easy Easter craft ideas for adults and children, making decorations from recyclable materials, exercise routines while at home, preserving vegetables and fruit, and fun and healthy recipe ideas for children.
