Through its Institute of Aerospace Technologies (IAT), the University of Malta is participating in the , a three-year long ERASMUS+ project with the aim of understanding how the aviation landscape will change in the near future, and developing training resources to better equip aviation professionals.
The project consortium consists of 12 partners from 5 countries, including education and research organisations, and various representatives from the aviation industry.
So far, the role of the IAT in this project has been to carry out an online survey and structured interviews with employees, employers and training providers associated with the following groups of aviation professionals: flight crew, air traffic controllers, airport operators, and drone operators.
Over 200 individuals participated in the survey and structured interviews, including nationals from the countries of the partners involved in Skill-UP, i.e. Malta, France, Portugal, Italy and Turkey.
In order to raise awareness about Skill-UP and to share initial project results, the IAT is organising an online launch event, to be held on Friday 9 October from 10:00 to 12:00 CET. This event is open to individuals who are involved in the aviation sector (in Malta or elsewhere) and/or who are interested in aviation in general.
Interested parties are invited to register .
