the University of Malta has entered into another agreement to carry out more research on the wellbeing of society, this time with the Malta Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society.
The three-year collaboration will create internships for University students to equip them with practical experience in their area of studies, it will see the University undertaking research commissioned by the Foundation, and the two entities co-ordinating to organise events focused on the development and wellbeing of society.
The Foundation’s mission is ‘to work towards an inclusive, just, equitable and eco-friendly society where all people may grow, enjoy a quality of life which is sustainable, and engage in productive and meaningful relationships.’
During of a Collaboration Agreement held on Monday, 19 October, 2020 at the University of Malta Msida Campus, Her Excellency Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, Chairperson of the Foundation, said “Establishing what constitutes the wellbeing of the diverse communities of people that live within the same society, is very important in order to keep track of the prevailing perspectives present and the different needs, that should be addressed within society. We look forward to enhance our collaboration with the researchers at the University of Malta, in meaningful ways to effectively realise the full potential of the people living on the Maltese Islands.”
University Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella commented about the role this valid research will have in helping policy-makers make more informed decisions. “Such research will be useful for multiple stakeholders, including policy-makers, and will certainly help people be more productive and communicate in a better way with their peers”, he said.
The two entities have also vouched to retain an open dialogue to ensure critical engagement on the way society is responding to today’s realities.
