graduated from the University of Malta with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Nursing studies in 2012. On completion of her undergraduate programme, Ms Grech worked for eight years as a Staff Nurse within the Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics at Mater Dei Hospital.
She went on to further her studies through an M.Sc. (Melit) with the aim of her dissertation being ‘To explore the understanding of professionalism by undergraduate nursing students’.
She has been contributing to the education and development of nursing students in the clinical area as a mentor and a clinical supervisor and engaged in the academic supervision of undergraduate dissertations. During the past year, as a visiting/ part-time academic, Ms Grech was committed to the development of Clinical Skills study units across the pre-registration nursing programmes offered by the UM.
Ms Grech is currently in the fourth year of a PhD programme of studies at Swansea University, Wales for which she was awarded a national scholarship. The title of her doctoral thesis is ‘Perceptions of ethics and ethical development of undergraduate nursing students’. The research project is looking at the moral and ethical development of nursing students at the University of Malta.
Furthermore, Ms Grech has a keen interest in the use of technology in education such as e-learning and simulation- based learning. She has successfully completed training programmes in teaching and learning in digital environments at the University of Malta and HiOA, in Oslo.
‘I have always enjoyed working with students and strongly believe that students form part of a community and learn as part of a social process within a caring community of practice’, is what determines her outlook to students and nurse education.
