A number of members from the University of Malta community were among the speakers at the 2021 Online Edition of the Malta Sustainability Forum held last week, with each giving their contribution on how national efforts to deliver against the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The speakers from UM consisted of:
- Prof. Alan Deidun from the Department of Geosciences
- Ms Audrey Friggieri, Commissioner on Gender-Based & Domestic Violence and a PhD student at the Faculty for Social Wellbeing
- Mr Carlos Cañas, PhD student at the Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development
- Mr Eman Borg, UM student and activist,
- Dr Marceline Naudi, Head of the Department of Gender & Sexualities
- Prof. Maria Attard, Head of Geography and Director of the Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development
- Dr Marie-Louise Mangion, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Public Policy
- Prof. Suzanne Piscopo, Associate Professor at the Department of Health, Physical Education and Consumer Studies, were among the line-up of speakers
Other speakers included H.E. Dr George Vella, the President of Malta, H.E. Dr Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President Emeritus of Malta, Hon. Miriam Dalli, Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Sustainable Development, and Dr Elena Frech, Head of the European Commission Representation in Malta, among many others.
The 2021 Online Edition of the Malta Sustainability Forum, which was held between the 25 and the 29 January 2021, carried the theme ‘The Time is Now: Learn, Engage, Act’.
