Family members of the late Prof. Joseph Troisi, the former Head of Department of Sociology at the University of Malta (where he also served as a resident professor for a number of years), have donated his rich library of books on sociology and gerontology to the Library of the University of Malta.
These books were an essential part of the literature that Prof. Troisi used during his long academic career, heading the Department of Gerontology and the European Centre for Gerontology.
Some of the book collection was also donated to the Faculty of Arts Library.
Prof. Troisi also served as the President and Founder Member of the Maltese Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, as well as the secretary and Founder Member of the Mediterranean and Middle East Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics. He directed the University of Third Age Malta.
Prof. Marvin Formosa, Associate Professor at the Department of Gerontology and Dementia Studies and Rector's Delegate for the University of the Third Age, said "academics and students alike are most grateful to the family of Prof. Joseph Troisi for choosing to donate this material to the University's Library".
All the books have been catalogued and are available to researchers for use.
