The Department of Disability Studies within the Faculty for Social Wellbeing together with the Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disability recently launched the first part of the project ‘ĊaVetta għall-Futur: video curriculum vitae of persons with intellectual disability’.
The project is aimed at promoting the employability and other skills of persons with intellectual disability. The launch marked the end of the first part of the project as a result of which ten video CVs of persons with intellectual disability were created. Many of these persons work in the private sector, with large companies or SMEs, while others work in the public sector or with organisations providing services for persons with disability. Others are currently looking for employment.
The video CVs are also testimony to different talents with some of the persons whose video CVs were created being involved in the performing arts, in sports and in handicrafts.
The video CVs are aimed at employers, at those who live and work with persons with intellectual disability, those who are learning and researching about their lives and - most importantly - as a tool of empowerment for persons with intellectual disability.
The project team is led by Dr Anne-Marie Callus, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Disability Studies and also comprises Isabel Bonello, Sandra Borg and Cristina Grech. The team is now working on the second phase of the project. ¸£ÀûÔÚÏßÃâ·Ñ about this will be available later this year.
