Between 8 and 10 November 2021, the SEA-EU members of Outreach and Sustainability Sub-committee (OSS) had the opportunity to meet in Brest, France for a staff workshop on communication strategies, organised by University of Bretagne Occidentale (UBO).
The workshop served as a platform for the OSS members to meet physically for the first time, discuss the roles and values of the OSS committee and create stronger links with the communication staff of the SEA-EU alliance.
A number of hands-on sessions were organised in order to explore various communication tools such as Canva and Adobe Spark and how these tools can be used to build effective outreach strategies. A team building and collaborative workshop on how to increase awareness on climate change and sustainability was also delivered through a Climate Fresk event.
SEA-EU members formed two teams and worked together to build a climate change system diagram based on 42 cards representing the different components of climate change. They collaboratively worked to identify cause and effect relationships, under the supervision of a trained facilitator to guide them, and provide additional insights and ensure smooth communication.
Other sessions included presentations on SEA-EU projects such as ‘Humour’ by Dr Liana Ermakova and designing standard video capture guidelines for all SEA-EU subcommittees, technical working groups, students and governing board.
The UM OSS team was represented by Ms Maria Calleja (SEA-EU Technical Manager), Dr Ritienne Gauci (SEA-EU OSS member) and Mr Neil Zahra (President of KSU).
