ARAM is a non government organisation based in Malta composed of patients with arthritis whose aim is to help and support patients with arthritis. A new group was established in September 2020 under the ARAM Association by the representative for the Young Group, Ms Jagoda Beltrani-Cordina for young people to have more support, access to information, breaking stigma, and educating employers. The aim is to create awareness of RDM鈥檚 especially amongst young people.
Ms Jagoda Beltrani-Cordina is the President of the association and Ms Farnaz Foroozani is the vice-president, they are both administrative staff at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Such awareness is needed to stimulate future benefits for RDM sufferers with regards to social and work inclusion. ARAM鈥檚 mission is to improve the wellbeing of young people, physically and mentally. This can be done through the promotion of learning skills such as action planning, relaxation techniques, communication with health professionals and family, education about nutrition and physical activity: pacing, recognizing and preventing relapses. The focus is on improving attitude, knowledge and behaviour that leads to better health outcomes. Our Young awareness campaign is keen to kickstart its own webinars, media radio and T.V. programmes and publications in the near future says Ms Beltrani-Cordina.
This is a volunteering opportunity at the Health Association ARAM to support the young community in Malta with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases. If you are a University of Malta staff member and you are interested in being part of this community and help support you can send an email with your expression of interest.
