Professor Joseph Borg from the Department of Applied Biomedical Science, at the University of Malta participated in the Decadal Survey on Biological and Physical Sciences Research in Space 2023-2032.
This survey sought to review the state of knowledge in the current and emerging areas of space-related biological and physical sciences research and generate recommendations for a comprehensive vision and strategy for a decade of transformative science at the frontiers of biological and physical sciences research in space.
The study report will help NASA define and align biological and physical sciences research to uniquely advance scientific knowledge, meet human and robotic exploration mission needs, and provide terrestrial benefits. [PDF]
Project Maleth鈥檚 first mission took Malta鈥檚 first biomedical science experiment to the International Space Station and back. The first set of analysed data are expected to be completed early next year and this forms the basis of an ongoing doctoral project by biomedical scientist Ms Christine Gatt supervised by Dr Graziella Zahra and Professor Borg at the University of Malta.
