The Islands and Small States Institute (ISSI) of the University of Malta held a webinar entitled "Small Island Developing States: Vulnerability and Resilience under Climate Change" on 7 December 2021.
The event saw the global launch of the book "Small island developing states: Vulnerability and resilience under climate change", which was recently published by Springer, and co-edited by Director Dr Stefano Moncada and former Director Prof.Lino Briguglio.
The event was chaired by H.E. Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino, Ambassador of Malta for Islands and Small States and former Chairperson of the Islands and Small States Institute (ISSI) of the University of Malta, and opened by Prof. Frank Bezzina, newly-appointed Chairperson of the Islands and Small States Institute and Pro-Rector for International Development & Quality Assurance.
The other co-editors of the publication also addressed the event, Prof. Hilary Bambrick, Adjunct Professor at the School of Public Health and Social Work at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia; Prof. Ilan Kelman, Professor of disasters and health at the University College London, England, and a Professor II at the University of Agder, Kristiansand, Norway; Prof. Catherine Iorns, Professor of Law at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand; and Prof. Leonard Nurse, Visiting Professor of integrated coastal management and climate change adaptation, University of the West Indies (UWI), Barbados, while the closing remarks were given by James Ellsmoor, Founder and CEO of Island Innovation.
