Dr Dan Cahn (University of Haifa) has recently concluded with success an Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility for Teaching Staff Mobility at the Music Studies Department, University of Malta. During this mobility (25-29 April 2022).
Dr Cahn has given fascinating lectures on the melodic and harmonic development of the blues, and its manifestations in various jazz styles, the Jazz standard form as a basis for improvisation and head arrangements, and another masterclass on the transition from harmonic improvisation to modal and free improvisation in Jazz.
Apart from collective meetings with various members of staff, a meeting with the Acting Head Prof. Vicki-Ann Cremona, Dr John Galea (Departmental Erasmus+ Coordinator) and Mr Alex Bezzina (Jazz tutor at the Music Studies Department) were scheduled during which matters of further collaboration were discussed. Dr John Galea who hosted Dr Cahn for this mobility also programmed a tour of the island of Gozo.
