The Islands and Small States Institute (ISSI) of the University of Malta and the (IEO) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) organised a world-wide webinar on the engagement of the IMF with small developing states.
The speakers included top officials of the IEO and a number of experts on small-state issues. Dr Stefano Moncada, Director of the ISSI, chaired the event.
The generally indicated that the IMF's surveillance, advocacy and analytical work relating to small developing states was of major benefit for these states, but more needed to be done to address the specificities of these states and to improve the coordination of work on small states within the IMF itself.
Prof. Lino Briguglio was a member of the evaluation team, and his contribution to the process included a paper of the IMF analytical work on small states available .
