The will be participating in the Tikka Xjenza festival on Saturday 23 July 2022 between 18:00 and 22:30. The Faculty by presenting four diverse and interesting projects that all relate to the theme of environment sustainability and well-being. These projects will demonstrate different ways through which the engineering profession may support sustainability goals. These include the monitoring of pollutants in air and modelling systems that allow for the prediction that changes in activities would bring about in terms of these pollutants; measures to reduce energy consumption and emission losses; and alternative energy generation for marine systems, together with the effect of particulate matter in our waters and filtration of such matter. 

These four activities will be presented to audiences participating in 'Esperimenta Tikka Xjenza' event:

• Pollution Monitor - An instrument that measures air pollution will be used by the visitor to measure a pollutant level of the area. This measurement will be inputted in our software and the visitor may select various options for travel activities to determine their impact  on this pollutant level. 
• AIR SAVE Demo - The exhibit will show in an interactive way (blowing balloons on site) how compressed air is used and lost in industry. The exhibit will show how important it is to find ways to eliminate such losses in order to reduce energy consumption and hence the resulting emissions. 
• WINMAR Demo - The exhibit will explore the various parts of small scale wind turbine systems typically used on marine craft and the way in which they are controlled to obtain the desired performance.  The exhibit will allow the visitor to examine the effect of varying the control settings on the system performance.  
• Filtration Demo - This exhibit will show, in an interactive way, how a sieving system works. By manipulating a system with particulate matter, the visitor can observe the effect these have on a sieving systems work. This will also highlight the persistence of Nano plastics on aqueous water systems and how graphene can be used as a water filtration medium.
