On Friday, 22 July during the launch of the , the Dean’s list awards were handed out to eight students; Jurgen Aquilina, Aurora Attard Coleiro, Andrew Buhagiar, Sean Farrugia, Kyle Fearne, Daniel Grech, Tony Rocco Valentine, Ethan Zammit. These students are recognised for their achievements and academic excellence during their undergraduate degrees.
During the event, three students were also awarded ‘The Best FYP Awards’ by the University Rector, Prof Alfred J. Vella. Mr Jeremy James Cachia was awarded the first prize for his work on ‘A study of deep learning for automatic segmentation of healthy liver in abdominal computed tomography scans’. The second prize was awarded to Mr Daniel Grech for his project entitled ‘Learning DFAs from noisy training data’. Mr. Tony Rocco Valentine was awarded the third prize for his efforts in his project called ‘Smart-contract proxy analysis.’
The final set of awards given were towards projects which have the most social impact, the awards were presented by Mr Carmel Cachia, Chief Administrator at eSkills Foundation.
Mr Owen Agius was awarded for his work on ‘Mobile gait analysis’, Ms Elena Fomiceva received an award for her project about ‘An educational app to help improve social and communication skills in autistic children’ and Mr Ethan Zammit was awarded for his project entitled ‘Artificial intelligence in short-term meteorological forecasting’.
