On 21 and 22 June 2022 a delegation from the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering participated at the 1st International Symposium on Industrial Engineering and Automation (ISIEA 2022), which was held at the NEU Park in Bolzano, Italy. This delegation included Dr Ing. Emmanuel Francalanza, Dr Ing. Joseph Zammit, Prof. Ing Jonathan Borg, and 4th Year Mechanical Engineering student Ms Amberlynn Bonello.
The delegation also presented two papers during the Special Session on Innovative Higher Education for Industry 4.0, which was chaired by Dr Ing Francalanza. During the event Ms Bonello was awarded the Best Student Paper award for her work on the “Design and implementation of the ICARUS Industry 4.0 mobile training unit”. The award was presented by Prof. Dominik Matt, the Director of the Fraunhofer Italia Institute located in Bolzano.
Following the event the IME members attended the final transnational project meeting of the ICARUS Erasmus project. The members of the international consortium discussed the final steps of the project, and future plans.
