Dr Marija Grech, a lecturer with the Department of English, recently published her first monograph titled .
The book examines recent claims that the earth has entered a new geological epoch known as the ‘Anthropocene’ and it investigates the way that this geological trope is founded on metaphors of textuality and inscription. Grech foregrounds the importance that language holds in our conceptualisation of the present and the future, and she proposes new ways of addressing the relationship between the human, language, and the materiality of the world.
The book was launched at two separate events, on 14 June 2022 at the Derrida Today conference in Washington DC, and at a book talk and seminar hosted by the  and the Department of English, on 7 July 2022 at the University of Malta.
