Recently, two articles related to research being done on super-resolution in the Deep-FIR project were accepted for publication. The first article, titled '', provides an introduction to the area of super-resolution along with its applications and current issues.
The second article, titled ', delves deeper into this hot research topic by providing an overview of popular and noteworthy methods along with a discussion of some remaining challenges.
The Deep-FIR project is focusing on the research and development of deep learning-based AI techniques that can improve the quality of low-resolution images. Furthermore, degradations such as compression that are often ignored by existing methods are also being taken into consideration, with the aim of developing approaches that exhibit satisfactory performance not only on synthetically-degraded images but also on real-world images.
More information about the Deep-FIR project can be found on the project's website, , and LinkedIn showcase .
The Deep-FIR project is being done in collaboration with Ascent Software and is financed by the Malta Council for Science & Technology (MCST), for and on behalf of the Foundation for Science & Technology, through the FUSION: R&I Technology Development Programme.
