This weekend Prof. Arnold Cassola will be on a mini-tour of Sicily to present his new book, The Maltese in Scicli and Capo Passero (1675-1777), which treats about the historical connections between Malta and Scicli and the evidence of Maltese surnames in this Sicilian town at the end of the 17th century, as well as about seven persons with a Maltese connection who were buried in the Capo Passero Castle in the 18th century.
On Friday 2 December, the book will be presented in Scicli by Vincenzo Burragato, President of the "Centro Studi e Documentazione Citta' di Scicli", Fracesco Causarano from the "Movimento Culturale Vitaliano Brancati" and Ignazio La China, Historian and Professor at the "Istituto di Scienze Religiose San Metodio di Siracusa". Incidentally, Prof. La China will be talking about an intriguing subject, by the title of " Does our faith in Scicli come from Malta"?
On Saturday 3 December, instead, Cassola will be in Porto Palo where, together with the Mayor Gaetano Maria Montoneri, Silvio Aliffi, President "Club Sicilia-Malta" and scholar Guido Rabito, the discussion will be about the connections between Malta and Capo Passero.
