On 11 November 2022, the celebrated the launch of the biography of one of its illustrious past members, Rev. Prof. Donat Spiteri, OFM Cap.
From 1966 to 1988, Spiteri was lecturer and Professor of Biblical Studies at the at the where together with Prof. Karm Sant and others set up the Malta Bible Society, of which he was President. The main achievement of this Society was the publication of the Holy Bible in Maltese. The translation commenced in 1966 and continued until it was published in 1984.
Titled 'Patri Donat Spiteri: Qaddej tal-Kelma ta’ Alla', the volume was authored by Rev. Dr Martin Micallef, OFM Cap and published by Kite Group.
During the launch that was held at St John's Co-Cathedral Oratory in Valletta, members of the Department of Sacred Scriptures read biblical passages in the original languages and expounded these texts. The main highlights of the new publication were also dwelt upon to the benefit of those present.
At the end of the event, the Archbishop of Malta highlighted the significance of the biblical pastoral ministry undertaken by Rev. Prof. Spiteri and his great service to the local Church through lecturing biblical science at the .
